Week Three of Advent: The Messenger Candle

Dear Christ Church Families,

Can you believe that we are halfway through Advent? The season is usually busy and additionally this year continues to be filled with sobering news each day. But it is my hope that your families have been able to give some time and thought to the first coming of Jesus, to his birthday that’s coming up! To that end, this third week of advent, we will:

• light the (or make a paper) pink Messenger candle, read the verses provided, and sing two hymns.  Angels We have Heard on High and Angels From the Realms of Glory

Additionally, Seeds Family Worship has a Christmas album that makes memorizing some of the texts you will be reading and reflecting upon easy and fun: Seeds of Christmas

• Sometime during the week, have your family read “Responding to Jesus like the Shepherds” taken from our Big Picture Family Devotional.

• Lastly, have your kids create a scene from this week’s devotion using black construction paper, cotton balls, and star stickers. Write JOY at the top!

More information on these can be found in the Advent Devotional. In addition to these devotional times, consider again how you as a family can tell others this good news as a part of you praising the Lord for the wonder of this miracle.
